HRSA’s 340B Rebate Model Pilot Program, launching on January 1, 2026, represents a significant shift in how certain 340B drugs are reimbursed. Rather than relying solely on the traditional upfront discount, selected manufacturers will provide post-purchase rebates.
How it works:
- Covered entities will purchase eligible drugs at full Wholesale Acquisition Cost (WAC).
- After dispensing to 340B-eligible patients, they submit required claims data to a technology platform.
- Once validated, the manufacturer sends a rebate equal to the difference between the WAC and the 340B ceiling price.
Additional Info:
The Rebate Model will initially apply only to 9 out of 10 Drugs listed under CMS’s Maximum Fair Price. This list is expected to expand annually.
Beacon (by Second Sight) will be the platform through which all rebate claim submissions and payments are facilitated.
PHV gathered and presented all pertinent information regarding the Rebate Model, as well as action items on our previous Bi-Monthly Collab Call. A recording is available to members here.
