Healthcare continues to be at the forefront of congressional and administration activities. According to Premiers article on Trends and Health policy developments, the argument is between payers, Hospitals, and physicians about who will be left paying the bill. Common points of agreement are :

  • Prohibits providers from sending extra charge in certain instances like emergency services at out-of-network facilities or when patients need additional care at out-of-network facilities
  • This bill will set a national floor with little flexibility from states to set payment standards through surprise billing laws
  •  Providers must give notice to patients, written or oral, before scheduled care

The core fight comes down to whether a market-based benchmark price for out-of-network care is imposed through this law
