March 9, 2016 – According to experts like Gartner, Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) is a standardized, highly automated offering, where compute resources, complemented by storage and networking capabilities are owned and hosted by a service provider and offered to customers on-demand. Technology costs place a considerable burden on IT budgets in critical access settings. In select circumstances this service model makes perfect sense based on the conditions such as:
- An ability to shift risk to a service provider
- In situations where capital constraints exist or a known OPEX cost is preferred
- The new reality of no more Meaningful Use funds
- Improved service levels with management, monitoring, help desk and call center options
Prairie Health Ventures is now offering IaaS to members and believe this to be a great example of collaboration using our shared service model. If you would like to explore this more please contact us.
