The 340B Drug Discount Program is a US federal government program created in 1992 that provides outpatient drugs to health care organizations and covered entities at discounted rates. The program allows these entities to stretch federal resources to reach more patients. Case studies have shown that this program provides financial assistance to patients unable to afford their prescriptions, clinical pharmacy services (disease management programs, medication therapy management), additional clinics, and community outreach programs. From this, states have concluded that 340B programs benefit all patients, and pass savings indirectly to the state as a whole.
As is standard with government programs, 340B is a complicated process with certain eligibility requirements. PHV is here to provide program education and management to remain compliant and optimize your in-house and contract pharmacy 340B operations.
